I have had more fun than should be legally allowed playing with a true little story from my life.
I will be telling this tale at Horse's Mouth Story telling in a week or so - and I've been telling and retelling the story to myself in preparation.
It's amazing how one little story can change...Both my German and English teachers would be proud. I think. (I did send a copy of the story to my former English teacher. He didn't reply. Maybe he was bothered by the accent. The German teacher is long dead. He would have replied, I am sure.)
When I first signed up for Horse's Mouth, my plan was to tell the story of how I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. But then the "Taking a leap" topic line-up filled before my name was called leaving me with a spot the next month: "Good luck with that."
I didn't think that a story of "how I jumped from a perfectly good plane" would be the story to tell in that context - even thought it would be pretty clear that I lived as I was standing in front of the audience as I am telling the story - live. But I digress.
I decided to tell a different story - how I saved $1 on bus fare - "Luck favors the prepared"
The story went through a few iterations before it ever made it to youtube.
I believe that the very first versions of the story started with me, in the morning of the day I forgot my ID - when the bus driver on the way in DID let me on the bus!
Of course, I was already on the bus by the time I had discovered the forgotten ID.
The second bus trip was different. That bus driver is probably still cursing me to this day "Why didn't she just flash a random piece of paper? The camera would not have noticed a difference and I would not have stopped her. Once she asked, I could not let her on. The part she does not know - 'I'm on probation for letting people on without paying for the fares. So they record my interactions...'" But that would be the literary version of the story - and I digress.
Here is a first attempt to just record and see how long it takes me to tell the story.

This was followed by versions 2: https://youtu.be/szd7H6dpu8A second attemps
and 3: https://youtu.be/mcS5A_m-Vxg v3
Then the story changed its name. From luck favoring the prepared to "Angels among us"

What are the important parts I remember now? AM I leaving out key points?

I'm getting close

Or not?
https://youtu.be/SmhUupWWSxE funny?
- in this version I introduce myself by name
- I like the "Good luck with that" set-up and transition with that one
- coordinator convo too long
- Don't need luck, if you have friends.
- computer rearranging is back here
- "What are friends for - what's one more adventure?"
- "Little old lady at Sportsman's warehouse"
- Needed a job - walking the streets
- "not very friendly - new greeter version"
- "come back tomorrow"
- "there is a greeter employed at this store?"
